小白菜在营养生长期，植株不论大小，只要鲜嫩均可收获上市。一般育苗移栽的，以采收成株为主。育苗便于创造幼苗的适宜环境，如炎夏高温、多雨季节，进行抗热育苗，或冬春由于低温寒流影响，生长缓慢，易通过春化引起早抽薹，可进行防寒育苗，防御不良环境条件。直播的以间拨分次采收幼嫩秧苗为主，直播可避免伤根，一般每亩种两.5～2.0㎏。苗床地宜选择保水保肥、排水良好、未种过同科蔬菜的地块上，早春和冬季应选向阳避风处，夏秋季应选阴凉通风处。前茬收获后要耕翻，清洁田园，以减轻病虫为害。小白菜幼苗2～3片叶时定植，控苗前将育苗畦浇透水，便于起苗。起苗多用拔苗栽植，这样伤根较多，定植后缓苗慢。定植密度、株行距12～18㎝见方。顶职初期要浇2次水，每次浇水后进行浅中耕，促使发生新根。气温较低时要注意防寒保温，气温较高时注意适当通风。小白菜根群分布浅，吸收能力低，生长中期应依据植株长势，结合浇水追肥1～2次尿素，每次每亩追施10～15㎏。如氮肥不足，植株生长缓慢、叶片少，基部叶片易枯黄脱落。如在保护地内种植，保护地内的温度白天为22～25℃，25℃以上时要适当通风，夜间为10～15℃。
